Everything I Need to Know… (part 8)

We will always be here for you.

This is one of the most important things that I’ve learned in my life. Not just because it’s about my parents always being there, but about Heavenly Father.

Our families are basically just a little slice of heaven here on earth. So it would make sense that father and Heavenly Father would go hand in hand.

My parents have been there for me through the thick and thin of life… And there have been some pretty terrible thins. No matter what, though, my parents were always there for me. And someone else was, too, even though it took me a while to realize it.

God will never leave us alone. God is literally our Heavenly Father. The Father of our spirits. We have inherited divine qualities from Him and He will never leave us alone to fend completely for ourselves. Certainly there are times when we might have to struggle through a few things on our own, but we will never be alone. There’s a difference. There might be a trial you have to work through on your own, but there will always be someone at your side cheering you on through the whole thing. Perhaps it’s a family member or a friend. And perhaps you will look around and not see anyone there. But someone will always be there and He will always be your older brother.

And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
“And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.” (Alma 7:11-12)

Christ came to earth and suffered all things so that He would know how we feel through every single up and down in life. No matter the up and no matter the down, He will always be there with us.

I know that my parents will always be there for me, and I know that Heavenly Father is constantly aware of me, my struggles, and the things I am going through, the things I need to keep pressing forward to the best of my ability. And He will always be there for you, too. All you need to do is turn to him and ask and I promise you that He will always answer you. He will always tell you that He is there, He is listening, and He will lead you home.
